homestuck is the world's greatest creation story.

four chronically online teenagers destroy earth to play a video game. despite sburb promising to let them create a new world, they struggle under the oppression it offers, not too dissimilar to the world they left behind. in this sense it is a perfect reflection of the internet. and i love it so much.
its also a rather queer work of writing. and i dont just mean metaphorically. theres yuri.
it is definitely far from perfect. but nothing is.

the flashes are.. amazing. easily the most standout part of the webcomic.

a scene from the webcomic homestuck. it is very intense, flipping between multiple simultaneous scenes with a transition of the screen of another view suddenly appearing and quickly zooming in to fill the screen after a split-second. hell yes. hell. fucking. yes.

theres plenty of interesting (and headcanon-able) characters. like the mayor. god i love the mayor.

a silly little guy with a round head, and pure black skin. he is fully covered in beige wraps except for his eyes and legs, and sports a sash with the text MAYOR. the R is in a noticably more saturated red than the rest of the label, implying that it actually came from a can that originally wrote MAYO. but obviously he is still the mayor.

but easily the best part of homestuck is its soundtrack. theres so many examples of how fantastic the music is that i cant even choose one to show here. look it up, you wont regret it.

if you can, you need to read it. unfortunately it is wildly inaccessible. if you are sensitive to flashing lights, have trouble reading badly designed text (like 1337 speak or bad text/background color combos), or are uncomfortable with ableism, homestuck is probably not for you. though there are ways to alleviate a few of those. if you do decide to read homestuck, do so through the unofficial homestuck collection.
